The Square Studio is owned and operated by Steve Sopchak, whose credits include multiple albums that have secured top spots in premier industry publications like the Billboard Top 200 and Heatseekers Charts, as well as numerous releases that have and continue to reside atop iTunes' and other digital media sales charts alike.
Most recently, this involved co-writing, recording, mixing, and producing material for Boston-based metal band Ice Nine Kills, including all of their latest full-length, "The Predator Becomes The Prey," as well as a track for Fearless Records' much revered compilation series "Punk Goes 90's Vol. 2," both of which hit the Billboard Top 200 at #153 and #41 respectively.
Similarly, Steve co-wrote, performed, recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced Raleigh, NC-based pop/rock mainstay Rookie of the Year's latest album "The Goodnight Moon: Part II," from which a track was chosen out of over 30,000 submissions for the #1 spot on Amazon/TuneCore's annual "25 Songs of Summer" compilation.
Steve also has engineering and production credits for several of Alternative Press' "100 Bands You Need To Know," including Boston-based maniacal rock outfit The Venetia Fair, NYC-based Timeshares, and punk rock's hardest working band, Such Gold, who have since gone on to sign with one of the largest independent music companies in the country, Razor And Tie Records.
Steve's extended discography includes some pretty notable projects as well, such as re-mastering a series of seminal pop-punk/emo albums by bands like The Ataris and The Juliana Theory for 10th anniversary re-releases, as well as handling the audio work for "Asia - 30 Years On," a DVD documentary on the history of the progressive rock legends Asia, which premiered at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, and was distributed world-wide as part of the band's 30th Anniversary Box Set.
Artists who have worked at The Square Studio have been featured on MTV, are regularly played on nationally broadcasted television shows, frequently appear in top spots on industry websites, have garnered millions of views on YouTube, and have signed with major labels and smaller independents alike based on the recordings they've made here. Much of the material recorded at The Square has been recognized by marquee music publications, has been nominated for and/or won regional music awards, and has been released and/or charted on both national and international scales.
