The Square Studio is owned and operated by Steve Sopchak, whose recent credits include co-writing, performing, and engineering Raleigh, NC-based pop/rock mainstay Rookie of the Year's latest album, engineering and producing the latest Ice Nine Kills album, which hit #9 on the Billboard Heatseeker's Chart and #15 on the iTunes Rock Charts, as well as continued work with punk rock's hardest working band, Such Gold, who recently signed with one of the largest independent music companies in the country, Razor And Tie Records. Steve's extended discography also includes some pretty notable projects, such as re-mastering a series of seminal pop-punk/emo albums by bands like The Ataris and The Juliana Theory for 10th anniversary re-releases, as well as handling the audio work for "Asia - 30 Years On," a DVD documentary on the history of the progressive rock legends Asia, which was sold as part of their 30th Anniversary Box Set and has been distributed world-wide.
Artists who have worked at The Square Studio have been featured on MTV, are regularly played on nationally broadcasted television shows, frequently appear in top spots on music sites like iTunes, PureVolume, and Myspace Music, and many have gone on to sign with major labels and smaller independents alike based on the recordings they've made here. Much of the material recorded at The Square has been nominated for and/or has won regional music awards, and has been released both nationally and internationally.
